POEM 113

I write this poem
for those who do not
write or read poems or care.
This one is for you,
the one who
curates,
collects,
collates,
and dictates.
I write this poem
to express my most obvious thoughts,
leaving the innermost
in the inners where they belong.
I write and write
because it is a joyful practice,
not because I have to,
although in order to have
any meaning in contact
with humans, I have to --
write that is
I am an artist
because I always have been
and you may argue but you'll never win
because I am also stubborn
I rearrange syntax for a living,
it is also my gift
received, given, regifted
and I do it on vacation as well --
I take words
that
fall
nonchalantly
from
your
mouth
and give them extra life
with a pause
or by stripping them of superfluous
prepositions, adjectives and such;
grand gestures are borne of such editing.
Know this and be assured
I will be kind enough to stop you
when you attempt to argue with me.
why beat around the bushes?
And what can I say
about the topic
that in this case is the love of art and the art of love?
perhaps, if we allow enough play,
and prune our thoughts
of unnecessary verbiage,
we can make of our
sensualist musings an art

POEMA 113

Escribo este poema
para aquellos que no escriben
ni leen poemas o ni les importa.
Éste es para ti,
el único que
conserva,
colecciona,
recopila,
e impone condiciones.
Escribo este poema
expresar mis pensamientos más obvios,
dejando lo más íntimo
en las entrañas a las que pertenece.
Escribo y escribo
porque es una práctica alegre,
no porque tenga que hacerlo,
aunque para tener
cualquier significado en contacto
con la gente, tengo que
escribir que
Soy una artista
porque siempre lo he sido
y tú puedes discutírmelo pero nunca ganarás
porque también soy obstinada
Reorganizo la sintaxis como profesión,
también es mi regalo
recibido, dado, vuelto a regalar
y lo hago en vacaciones también-
Tomo palabras
que
caen
despreocupadamente
de
tu
boca
y las doy una vida de más

con una pausa
o, despojándolas de preposiciones superfluas,
adjetivos y demás;
grandes gestos se llevan en esas ediciones.
Ten claro y estate seguro
